Currently, we have leased 1.5 acres of land roughly 3 hours from our school. The land is used for farming ‘matooke’, the local variety banana. This initiative was started in June 2017 as a cost effective solution to feed the children daily lunches. The plant can be harvested year round, making this an excellent resource for the children. We also have a chicken coup and a barn housing pigs and cows to supplement children’s diets. We plan to expand our agricultural and farming efforts with our Rural Boarding School initiative.
